What is the word?

Have you ever been stuck mid sentence while trying to think of a word?  Or been in the middle of a letter or email to someone, unable to find the right phrase or wording to convey your message?

Well, that happens to me all the time.  I am known for my ability to dominate a conversation.  However, when I cannot find the right word or find the right phrase I lose total track of the conversation.

I know what the word means, know that I know it, and just am unable to bring it to my language center.

I can think of words that have close to the same meaning, can define the dictionary term, but the word itself is just lost to me.

I can compare it to seeing a familiar face and not being able to recall a name.  Or wanting to go to a place I have been before, yet find myself only able to describe the restaurant.

Perhaps this has much to do with my autism.  I do not have a word for it, cannot give it a definition, and am at a complete loss for how to deal with it.

Any information you may have regarding this situation would be greatly appreciated!
