Last nights baseball game.

At last nights little league game one of the families brought along their autistic mom to watch her grandson.

She rocked her way through two hours of Little League Majors excitement.

I watched and studied her to see how much of me I could see in her.  Her awkward gait as she made her way to the snack bar for water and an ice cream, unable to sit still and unwilling to hold a conversation.

I tried to focus on the game, but was enamored with the nametag one of her daughters wore; finally, I could see that she works in some type of behavioral hospital.

I wonder if she works with patients that have autism.  She was very good with her mother.  Even offering to get the water for her; however, her mom was too independent for that.

One thing I can respect, the need for independence, even in the face of having to depend on others for so much.

I could tell right away that she was autistic.

One would probably would not know that I am autistic unless they spoke with me and knew what to look for, at least, not today.

Not so long ago, I was her…my journey continues.
